Maxwell Air Force Base Sculpture Dedication
Dates: Thursday, April 06, 2017
On April 6, 2017 a bronze sculpture of Daedalus from British sculptor James Butler, RA, will be inaugurated at Maxwell Air Force Base on West Drive to commemorate the centennial of the WWI and the WWI pilots for whom the order of the Daedalians was established at Maxwell AFB in 1934. This gift to Maxwell AFB is made by the Croix Rouge Farm Memorial Foundation through the generosity of longtime community and business leader Nimrod T. Frazer, Silver Star.
A previous casting of this bronze Daedalus, the Fleet Air Arm Memorial, stands on the Victoria Gardens embankment in London.
To commemorate the centennial of the entry of the United States air service into World War One and the centennial of Alabama’s entry in to the war, join Maxwell Air Force Base in the unveiling of the new Daedalus sculpture by James Butler, R.A.
